landbased bucket ladder dredgers

The landbased bucket ladder dredger moves along an embankment on tracks.

The dredging depth is limited by the length of the bucket ladder, the slack span of the bucket chain, the dead load of the carriage as well as by the permitted angle of the embankment in front of the location.

The downwards inclined bucket ladder is designed as a supporting structure on which an endless and sagging chain with mounted buckets rotates.

The excavated material is hauled by the slagging, non-guided bottom strand to the top where it gets discharged. After the buckets leave the water, a dewatering takes place by slots in the buckets. By reaching the discharge point, the material gets fed into a silo. The bucket ladder dredger can be equipped with an additional dewatering screen.

The bucket chain can be either a drag link conveyor chain or a chain coming from the caterpillar technology.

Normally, the ratio of the embankment is 1:3. This results in realistic dredging depths of 12 m, without dredging the own base. In exceptional cases, the dredging depth can be extended to 15 m.

For an additional dredging cut, the position of the lane is changed to inland.

Having the possibility of a parallel movement, a certain amount of steps is possible without changing the position of the lane.

If the material gets forwarded by a stationary overland conveyor instead of stockpiling, the feeding of the overland conveyor takes place by a telescopic conveyor. This is necessary for having a bigger dredging heading without a permanent movement of the overland conveyor.

The landbased bucket ladder dredger can not be used for a deepening of existing water surfaces, but because of its stable chain guiding it can be used in running waters.
